GASLAMP BOOGEYMAN

OG Boogeyman, SD 2021 / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

It’s that time of year again when everyone is on the constant move. As I was looking through my hard drive I came across an image that reminded me of traveling. This was taken from a quick overnight trip during the end of the pandemic. We took bird scooters out all night riding around the Gaslamp Quarter. It was crazy because majority of SD was completely empty still. Felt kinda like a ghost town. I had never seen the streets so desolate there. One of my camera lenses on my iPhone was cracked at the time but it created this effect with the lights. Not a bad little accident. Always fun when you get to experience familiar places in a different light. Good to shake it up once and a while.

THURSDAY TRACK VOL. 4

Tiki Bar NYC / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

Welcome back to another volume of Thursday Tracks. Doesn’t it feel damn good knowing tomorrow is finally the weekend? I’m sure many of you are already checked out for next weeks festivities. I wanted to share a funky dance track that always gets me into weekend mode. This week’s track is called “Comes and Goes (ft. Annakalmia Traver)” by Chico Mann. I mean if you aren’t dancing or moving some body part to this song kudos to you. I highly recommend checking Chico Mann out. Been a fan for awhile now. I took this photo in a random tiki bar in NYC a few years ago. Always fun when a bar has its own twist on drinks. So go grab yourself a nice little beverage and turn your speakers way up for this one. It’s the last night before the weekend. Treat yourself.

DROSTE SERIES PT. 1

For the first series I wanted to share a style of editing I have been messing with. Recently I have been interested in the Droste effect. Aka a picture within a picture. For years I have always been into mixed media involving photography but never really dabbled with this effect. After experimenting with several different images in my hard drive, I was able to narrow down a few of my favorites. When the image does work, I really enjoy how some of the lines naturally blend together. Enjoy part 1 of the series.

THURSDAY TRACK Vol. 3

5 o’clock Somewhere / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

It’s that time of year again when the days get shorter and the nights are longer. I wanted to dedicate this week’s Thursday Track to anyone who is having trouble adjusting or just feels like the day goes on forever. The track I selected is called “I need a break” by Suff Daddy. This European producer has been a favorite of mine for many years. If you enjoy beats and instrumentals I highly recommend checking his albums out. This has always been a go to track for me when I need to kick off a moment to myself. Gets you in the mood to either hit the couch or a happy hour. This photo was taken at one of my local neighborhood spots. Sometimes that little break is the prefect reset. So cheers to anyone on the constant grind. Kick your feet up with a cold beverage and take a damn break. This ones for you. Salute!

Eyes Up.

Santa Cruz 2022 / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

When was the last time you ever stopped and took some time to just look up? Like truly stop and just stare for a second. I have always been a fan of the different perspectives you get. Most of the time it’s the same old thing or building you pass by daily. When I was younger, I was always told you can pick out a tourist if you see someone constantly starring up. I always thought how dumb that statement was because why miss taking in the new surroundings. Now a days everyone just stares down to their phones, so what’s worse? This image was taken on a recent skate trip to Santa Cruz. I have been on several trips there but this was my first time stopping at the pier. Never know what you will see these days. (Peep the fake person in the yellow sky glider.) So do yourself a favor and look around once in awhile.

Thursday Track Vol. 2

Cabana / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

This week’s Thursday Track is a farewell to the warmer months as the weather cools down. For the limited few that know about the Cabana, you know how much love I have for that place. The track I paired with this image is called Não Tem Nada Não by Marcos Valle. Whenever I see this photo I instantly think of this song. It really captures the vibe you get from being at the cabana. Nothing but good food, friends and sunshine every time. I have plenty more photos to share from this place. For now pour yourself a nice drink, sit back and relax! Salute!

Church St. & 18th Street.

SF 2022 / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

Something special about linking up with the crew in SF. The energy, sights and sounds of that city is like no other. The amount of ground you can cover in an afternoon is pretty insane. I could low key write a book full of stories from living in that city, but that’s for another time. This day was a favorite because I got to show some of my LA friends the “wiggle” route to Dolores Park. Literally a zig-zag for blocks from the Panhandle to Church St. & 18th St.. A definite go to for any sunny afternoon in SF. Do yourself a favor if you’re ever in the city and make a pit stop at Dolo. Shout out to my SF family for always making trips to the city the best! Much love.

Thursday Track Vol.1

Since it’s almost the weekend I wanted to start a series I will be doing each week. Every Thursday I will be sharing an album or a track of the day I am listening to with a beverage.

To kick off the first Thursday Track I wanted to share one of my favorite albums from my collection. I have been listening to Blu & Exile’s “Below the Heavens” since 2008. If you haven’t listened to their music, I highly recommend doing so. The album recently turned 15 this year to top it off. So kick back with a cold beverage and enjoy one of my favorite tracks off the album.

Beverage: Heineken (@Heineken)

Song: Simply Amazin’ (Steel Blazin’) by Blu & Exile (@bluherfavcolor) (@exileradio)

Villain Vacation.

Early 2021 / (C) 2022 Co. Fliks

Side Note: Doesn’t this photo look like its out of Payday 2: Crimewave Edition from PlayStation? Am I right? If you don’t know what I mean, hit up Siri and ask. This image of Rudeboy (@i.n.c.rudeboy) was taken almost 1 year after the first Covid pandemic lockdown. His mask and fit are on point. A time when things were just beginning to open up and taking a vacation was still a big toss up. I love how this shot reminds me of those crazy months. A Moscow Mule and a nap will do the body wonders.

Welcome to Co. Fliks

Co. Fliks was created as a creative outlet for myself. I wanted an additional platform to share content and photos taken mostly on my iPhone. From thought out shots to random moments in between. This blog will have a little bit of everything. We conveniently carry a camera around with us 24/7. Hell, they even come with three lenses now. Tons of great images are never seen or talked about. Stay tuned for weekly images, content and more. Subscribe for updates!
